GoLove vs Janitor AI: both let you look first
Janitor AI opens onto a browsable catalogue with login optional. GoLove opens onto a working chat. Both skip the wall; they skip it at different points.

What Janitor AI shows you
Opened without an account, Janitor AI presents a character catalogue with login and register sitting quietly in the header rather than blocking the page. The browse surface is organised by tags — male, female, fictional, anime, RPG, horror, sci-fi, historical and dozens more.
The scale and the breadth are the point. This is a user-generated catalogue, closer in spirit to a community archive than to a polished companion product, and you can wander it freely.
What GoLove shows you
GoLove skips a step further. An entry link does not land you on a catalogue to evaluate — it lands you in the application with a session already created, where the conversation itself is immediately available.
That is a different kind of openness. Janitor lets you assess the selection; GoLove lets you assess the writing. Which is more useful depends on whether your question is what is available or how good is it.

Curated versus user-made
This is the genuine difference and it cuts both ways. A user-made catalogue is enormous and uneven: you will find things nobody would commission, and you will also wade through a lot that does not work. A curated roster is smaller and more consistent, and it will not contain the specific odd thing you were hoping for.
People who want a particular niche scenario tend to prefer the archive. People who want to open an app and have it be good tend to prefer the roster. Neither preference is wrong and the two are not really competing for the same evening.
- User-made: enormous range, variable quality, community-driven
- Curated: narrower, more consistent, media generation built in
Neither publishes a price
Both are in the nine-out-of-eleven group that publishes no public pricing. So the cost question cannot be settled from outside for either, and you should be sceptical of any ranking that claims otherwise.
What you can do, free, is open both and spend ten minutes in each. Given that both let you in without a form, that is an unusually cheap comparison by this category's standards.
What an open catalogue tells you about the operator
A user-made archive that is browsable without an account is making a bet most of this category refuses to make: that the catalogue is good enough to sell itself. Janitor AI's tag list runs from anime and RPG through to politics, philosophy and detective fiction, and it is all visible before anyone asks you for anything.
That openness has a cost the operator absorbs. Crawlers index it, competitors copy the good entries, and casual visitors consume bandwidth without ever converting. Products that gate the catalogue are usually optimising against exactly those costs.
You benefit from the ones that absorb it. Being able to assess the selection before investing an account is the cheapest due diligence available in this market, and only a handful of apps here allow it.
